Oh lol I don't! I'm grateful I'll be getting a return, I'm just frustrated because it doesn't seem to be the amount owed to me.

That's the best thing about dogs. They don't care if you owe money or you're barely scraping by or even if you're homeless. They just want a little food, a little water and a whole lot of lovin'.

Can you afford to have a professional do them for you? My older sister has 3 kiddos and she goes somewhere and gets a boatload back, they always seem to give you the best deals and know the system really well! IDK wish I could help but the tax crap is sooooo damn confusing :(

I think that's what I'm going to do. I don't think it's right at all to be honest, especially once Bear pointed it out (that's why I was a bit let down when I posted my totals). I think that the price to have a professional to do it will be probably pretty close to what turbotax wants since I'm filing in two states this year.

Yea it dont sound right to me either! I would go get it done somewhere, last year my sister got back close to 5k!!!! The year before she did her own and screwed up and got audited and only got back like 1,500. So yeppers if you can afford it go that route :)

When we retired we had saved plenty of money to live modestly. Unfortunately, the stock market took a dive and the income we had been counting on disappeared.

Ive been watching you tax posts today and I honestly think you would benefit from actually going to a professional. From what you have said here your taxes are a bit more complicated than a standard Free-File. Thats what the free online services are really for. People with income and one or two standard deductions. They are not really setup for anything much more complicated than that. I am not a tax man, but my Dad is and frankly you sound like the people that come to see him that would benefit from advice that a professional can give.

That's what worries me. Of course, if you have 5-10 years to waste, the money will likely return. But if a crash happens when you are nearing retirement, your screwed.
