Hi, I thought i'd reach out from FoodEssentials to provide some more clarity in to our system. The below statement is designed to reduce spammers - "In order for this hit to be accepted, it must match at least one other hit for the same product. Only those hits that match another entry will be paid." At one point 70% of our submissions were spam, which had the result of dropping everyone's match rates. We have managed to resolve this issue and now everyone's rates are heading back up. The matching policy is shown to provide us with 99% accuracy rate which is imperative. However, it is important to note that if your submission doesn't match another submission we still pay you. We only do not pay for your non matched submissions if your total match rate is below 10%. This targets only spammers. Lastly, Our ingredient matching is fairly sophisticated and in most cases accounts for typos and spelling mistakes. I hope this helps. I don't have much to add here except for to say that we are working vigorously to understand what went wrong, to fix things going forward, and to communicate more effectively with the community. Unfortunately, this happened at the same time we introduced the rejection policy. We are working to resolve this and remove the spam and will adjust our policy going forward. Below is an overview of the situation. WHAT HAPPENED - We match the data you entered against the data someone else entered. This is where the match rate comes from. We have found this to be 99% correct. - If your score is above 50% we paid for everything you did. - If your score is below 50% we paid for what you did that was correct. CHANGES: - We have now reduced this requirement down to 10% to target spammers only - We have doubled what we pay for ingredients - We continue to work with the community to evolve the process TIPS: The largest source of legitimate errors are: - Ingredient hits: misspelling - Nutrient hits: entering "0"s when there are not on the panel, missing "0"s when they are on the panel - Claims & Logos: missing We appreciate all of those who work with us, and recognize our failure to communicate effectively with the community.
