I know exactly what you are saying and GREAT analysis of them as "middle men" for bad requesters. But I'm not going to let them off the hook so easily. Time and again we communicated the lunacy of some of their policies, but to little avail. And even their good hits were so frustrating because their "gold questions," their test questions, were so ridiculously obnoxious (and wrong!) most of the time. Specifically, they were contradictory at times! And the interface at the end became an absolute albatross. Navigating their hits with all their bells and *******s when you clicked on a hit. Ugh, atrocious! OH I just cringe thinking about it! But there were a few nuggets of good hits underneath the piles and loads of horse manure.
Speaking of YOUTUBESS. Did anything came about that one requester with the videos? She gave quasl to people but I guess she left mturk?
If you are a master, this batch is quite popular Amazon requester batch. Have at it. https://www.mturk.com/mturk/preview?groupId=24NR3TVOK5UF9OL1KV5O4F0QV1G63W
Your browser needs a script host which for Chrome is Tampermonkey https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/tampermonkey/dhdgffkkebhmkfjojejmpbldmpobfkfo?hl=en and for Firefox is Greasemonkey https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/greasemonkey/ Load the appropriate one for the browser you're using and you'll be ready to install scripts. Like you see the script link I put above. Very, very easy.
She had HITs up again, at least a few weeks ago she did. I had her on PM for a short while because she had told one of the qualed people that she would have qual HITs up. She never put up qual HITs, though... that I saw at least. I removed her from PM because no qual HITs were in sight and it seemed like her work was getting done. Meghana Bhatt or something like that.
I appreciate you and the others trying to help me. I just don't know how to ask what I need help with. I've successfully downloaded the script, and now I'm just....yeah. That's what I don't get. It's there, I see it, and that's about it. As for your tip - I don't know where that thing's been!
Hi Pavel, This is Fred from Rainforest. I was the one who sent the email. As a young business I would ask that you give us the benefit of the doubt and accept that people make mistakes. Let me also address the idea that we have paid MTurkers for good TO reviews - that's total nonsense, and not something we would ever do as a company because it's simply morally wrong. Contact the reviewers yourself and ask them. As you can see, we still have a whole bunch of negative reviews on there. Unsurprisingly, since we started cleaning up our act our reviews have got better. Even if we were morally bankrupt and decided that this would be a smart idea, the kind of Turkers that use TO are also the ones who would immediately review us negatively if they found that our attitude hadn't changed for the better. So it would be a pointless and expensive strategy. I can assure you that our decision to change our attitude towards our MTurk workers is far from cynical. We realised that MTurkers are our users too, just like our paying customers. And it felt wrong that our users were so unhappy with us. So we decided to change. Simple as that. I realise that it's going to take significant effort and continued improved behaviour on our part to convince the community, but I wanted to respond to you personally. I realise that your criticism comes from a real care for the community and I respect that. I would welcome anyone here emailing me at fred@rainforestqa.com with any questions about us, about our policies regarding MTurk and with feedback about our HITs and our company in general. Thanks.
Haha. That is kind of amusing and those do sound super trolly. But seriously, as I replied to Pavel already, we would never ever pay someone for TO ratings. We're trying to run a business and it would be an illogical business decision, because the only people that use TO are the Turkers (like yourselves) who participate in the community and communicate with each other (like in this thread) about the quality of HITs and requesters. So in that context what is an artificially high TO rating / recent great TO reviews going to do for us? It's going to get us a brief burst of 1-time HITs and then a flood of negative reviews. So I understand your concerns, but I don't think the logic holds up. As I said before, feel free to email me at fred@rainforestqa.com (you can see my ugly mug here https://www.rainforestqa.com/about/) with any concerns or reply here and we can hash it out in public. Cheers.
