The thing to remember about turking for money is, learn to hate yourself. Batches wont always be up, you wont have masters, so youll need to do surveys. Its easier when you hate yourself.
-_- I worked part time when I was 17 and it wasn't fun like most people think, and I suffer from severe anxiety, and depression, I have 0 to no social skills, and hate just about everything in my life. I started turking because I needed to make some money and since I hate being around people (trying to work on it) I took this up. I have a lot of personal issues and problems at home and all that stuff you don't care to hear for, but this is my situation. I am not you, you are not me. A few hours ago there was like 8 dollars worth of phone call hits, and I cannot do those because I am terrified of what people will say back to me. Im glad you had the motivation/determination but Its not something I have right now, and of course I am trying to work on it but its difficult. Im sorry I am such a failure.
Dunno about bad I'm at $80, gonna use this TOTW batch and make it a $100 day.. Bet this is a $200 day for serious grinding people which I ain't as I'm lazy :/ and non USA.. and has a GF who insists on me texting her every 5 minutes of the day :/
So much depends on situation, I work FT and do Mturk on breaks (5-10 min here or there) and it works for me and eventually adds up during the day in terms of time. That might work for you, too...if I had to do surveys 5 hours straight, I would go blind.

Ah, okay. See I haven't really done any of that. I just avoid batches that have meh-ish TOs, when in fact they may simply be for certain people and not for others. I end up grinding surveys.

In other words, people keep saying it isn't difficult. It's just experience. It's just whatever works for you. Etc. Which is fine and true, but not entirely as helpful as it could be. Not that anybody is obligated to, but I'd really love it if someone would give a detailed play by play, so to speak, of exactly what they do to earn said 20+ daily. Instead of just saying something encouraging and concise, I'm looking for detailed, thorough and given examples of how they go about earning what they do. But I'm probably asking too much. Thus the metaphor at the bottom. Does that clear up the 'what' for you?
$20 a day is possible with just surveys (unless its a really dry day) then throw in batches and its all about how much you want to work at it
