That's the problem with the mantra of "less government, states' rights". It sounds good until you realize that there are states that would be utter and complete impoverished, uneducated clusterfucks, and after 20 years of leaving them to their own devices, we'd be debating building a wall to keep, let's say, the Mississippians from crossing the border into other states.
That is what the argument devolved into was not what the argument was actually about. Liberalism is a mental disorder.
My stepdaughter failed first grade for too many absences. I brought her from SC to Virginia to get her in Summer school so she could advance. She was so far behind (granted, some of it was because of the absences) that I had to teach her just about everything. Virginia wouldn't advance her. When she got back to SC she was given the award for the most improved student in the school and sailed thru the next two grades because she had already done everything they were teaching (for 2 years!!!) while she was in VA.
