Was in the same situation before, ended up volunteering to cook for other people. The cook doesn't pay for food; other people paid 1 dollar. You could also do other chores instead of paying 1 dollar, like vacuuming, doing the dishes, or taking trash out. This was a social club for people who are on disability or have mental health issues, or who just need help. I found it by searching on google for "myTownName social club" Also found a hippy local food store and volunteered once per week, when I was done I could get anything from the volunteer bin/fridge. Gave me food for two or three days. I wish I hadn't been so stubborn, I should have asked family/friends for money no matter how much I hated them, or was embarrassed. Looking back, I should have even asked acquaintances, like the landlady! I really suggest buying fat or meat instead of vegetables or grains, because a small serving can keep you full for very long, like 6 to 8 hours. Specially the more fat there is. There's also cheap stores, pretty much anything with an ethnic name. Here we have a small lebanese one, bananas are often 24c per lb, potatoes 10lb for 2 dollars or less. A small local convenience store here gives away free pizza after rush hour (nearly 1 pm), because by law, they have to throw it out after 30 minutes if it's not sold. Oh, and this too:
we went through a stage like that as well...not sure where you live but if you have a smart and final or something like it they have 40lb bags of rice for 15 dollars. Add some onion to it and anything else cheap, we ate that for almost 2 months straight to save on food, each bag lasted about a month, I'm sorry I wish i could help more
OMFG, I'm freaking out over here. Can't believe the stupid thing I just did. I went a little hammy on those Andrew UPC code HITs -- and didn't realize until I'd done about 30 of them that I wasn't doing them right. I wrote to the requester right away and pretty much begged him not to reject. Told him I'd redo the work right away if he'll let me. My numbers are good enough that I can handle 30 rejects, but still ... dammit, dammit, dammit. Well, they are 8-hour AA. Maybe I'll get lucky ...
And, wow, I already heard back from the requester. He actually gave me a bonus! Geez, I should run out and buy a lottery ticket right now!
