Never heard anyone say anything good about Comcast. I'm fairly happy with TWC. Doesn't bode well for us I suppose.
They have gross customer service. They try to slide in a load of payments whenever they can, even when they say you've been compt for a free box or whatever. Suddenly, it's back on your bill. I think they need Turks working their records.
The only thing that worries me about the merger is, that I've read Comcast is big on data caps, I don't know how true that is. If so, hopefully those picked up in the merger are not affected.
It's not acceptable anywhere, but I know they've trialed data caps. As if this is Australia or something. I remember there being some vague 500GB/month stat on my account. I don't believe I ever caught overcharges. But, what an ignorant thing to make a discerning customer even more sick of your practices.
Right now they are running a test market in something like 5 cities that has a 300 GB cap for all plans, you pay 10 dollars for every additional 50 over after that. They'll likely roll that out to everyone eventually since no one is protesting it very hard. And they'll definitely roll it out to TWC customers too if they roll it out to everyone. EDIT: I should add that I am in one of the cities that has the data cap and it's just as much BS as it sounds like. The only heavy use we really do is Netflix and Twitch, but we always manage to hit the 300 GB data cap monthly regardless of things I've turned off like automatic updates on my game consoles and tablet/phone. 300 GB is practically nothing if you stream your TV, which is basically the whole reason they have data caps, to "encouarge" you to buy their crappy TV packages.
I'm dealing with all this for my parents now. This shouldn't be any more difficult than getting a TV signal back-in-the-day. I entirely agree with them on that point. Get it together.
I cut my cable, because with Hulu Plus, Netflix, WWE network, and youtube, I don't need tv. I also download games on psn that are sometimes 11gb or so a piece. Pair that together with the other stuff we download, my house would eat up 300gb in 2 weeks. That will ******* suck
I doubt they'll do that here in Austin. Probably because just the fear of the Google Fiber rollout has ATT crapping their pants and offering higher speeds than they ever have. In my case I live out in the hill country and don't have any other options so I may be screwed.
