If I hadn't guessed the reason, the accounts would just be suspended. I wouldn't be able to use Paypal ever again. Once someone created the 2nd one, they suspended all of them since duplicate accounts were against the TOS. Maybe they didn't think it was identity theft and probably thought I did until I pointed it out that I do have police reports. The most frustrating was that once your account is suspended, no one will talk to you. Multiple phone calls were useless because once they looked at my account and saw that it was suspended, they refused to listen to me. I had to google some Paypal emails and sent out several emails to various people and one replied back saying they will look into it asking me for proof of reports etc.
Yup. Gotta buy a new laptop. Can't just add more RAM, which is what I was hoping to do. I'm 99.9% staying with Apple even though I know PC's are better for Turking. I just think it would be too big of a transition for me.
No money involved, but Facebook did the same thing to my son. They banned his account, and when he tried to find out why they said they couldn't tell him due to 'privacy issues."
PCs are soooo easyyyy though. And super easy to upgrade. LOL she'd laugh this shit right out of her courtroom.
In other news, my internet has decided to behave like shit today. I'm paying for 150mbp, usually get around 50 on wifi. Today I am getting 9. It almost feels like I've gone back to dial-up.
I said it once--here--I'll say it again: TOS agreements are rubbish. They are rules, not laws. Corporations do not make laws, only States(up to a point) and Congress are allowed to make laws. Everyone else makes RULES. One does not have to follow the rules, especially when those rules may not be legal. We agree to follow certain rules, just to live harmoniously with each other, but if we do not like the rule, we can, and do, object.....and refuse. TOS agreements do not come under the heading of laws, although they are trying to put them into the realm contract law. Amazon is being intentionally less than transparent. Eventually that's going to come back and hit them in the face. They probably believe that their TOS rules are fool proof. Actually they're terribly inept. Which speaks ill of the quality of Amazon's legal representation.
I have a 2015 MBP with 16 GB ram. Turking on it is a dream on the go, only pales in comparison to the 27" retina iMac at home
Any brand or model recommendations for PC as an alternative to Mac? I have a Macbook Air now but portability isn't everything. If I switch, I would really want something that feels Mac-like if that's a concept LOL. I used to use PC's in high school and middle school (Sony Vaio, Gateway, Dell) but I've used Mac's since college. I am bipolar when it comes to computers. In college I had a 17" MBP then I switched to the Air when I graduated. The Air is waaaaaay too slow for turking. But a MBP is not very portable. If I stick with Mac, you think a MBP is the only way to go with a laptop, right? I would not consider a desktop for personal reasons.
I switched from a mac to a pc for turk, and I'm glad I did. If for no other reason than the presence of ahk. Can't run that on a mac without dualbooting, and that defeats the purpose. Plus they're generally cheaper. Or at least mine was.
Lenovo workstation laptops. I used an Air before and it wasn't that much of a change from the old Lenovo I had. Just hated the lack of things you could use compared to Windows and the fact the trackpad didn't have the clicker buttons or whatever people call them. If anything I would keep an iOS device handy as there's some good hits requiring them and they float around from time to time.
The 13" MBP is pretty portable if you're looking for portable + power. I have the 15", but don't mind carrying it around for the 2" of extra screen. But yes, I think the MBP would be the best way to go either way, especially if you're running a bunch of windows / scripts / apps.
