A top-of-the-line processor bought today will be obsolete in 2 years? I mean, yeah, there will be far better stuff (faster, more efficient, etc.) in 2 years, but I think "obsolete" is going a bit far.
Yea, I don't quite agree that everyone has to have a comp that's recent for it work well. I've managed to make my refurbished laptop work for the past 6 years and if I wasn't turking it would still work just fine for me. I'm upgrading to a new system so I can be more efficient with turking. I also have a 2005 car that has zero mechanical issues. Maybe I'm just really frugal; or cheap. Gotta live within your means.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moore's_law No its really not Im not sure what you definition of obsolete is, but in that def its obsolete, you certainly can use it for many tears, but to say 10 years or even close is simply wishful thinking.
Obsolete comes with the app not the process. You could write a book on typewriter. Is it obsolete? To me. Yes. You? Who knows?
Just because something still functions absolutely does not make it obsolete. I can still make an Apple II run, but an iphone even a first gen iphone makes it obsolete.
Looks like you are referring to "technical obsolescence". I was thinking more "functional obsolescence". Also I didn't say 10 years, I said 2 years.
I don't know what to say. I skimmed this. Pay attention to Paragraph 4. I can't copy and paste for some reason. This paragraph "Although this trend has continued for more than half the century..."
Yeah I dont recall quoting any of your posts, so there's that. Edit I did recall one, I am drunk my apologies, but I stand by my statement that pretty much all Tech is obsolete in 2 years.
nanaki, make it something like: Can't find great hits? 6/30 Neither can we, Tuesday! or We can't either! Tuesday!
You do! And you're far far better at it than we are and we appreciate you doing it for us. left to our own devices we'd have this one up til next week.
Why is this conversation so hostile? You directly quoted my post in #1490. I responded to it. What is the problem? Edited: Just saw your edit. Like I said, I was thinking more on a functional level. Anyway, doesn't matter that much to me.
Yeah no problem, but its been that way since BASIC/FORTRAN, Atari 2600, Nintendo, ETC.... So its not going to change, whats new this year is done 2 years later at a maximum. More than likely it just gets quicker and quicker until Terminator or whatever.
