I was involved in a few different Christian churches years ago and I have to say they REALLY HELPED THE COMMUNITY! I donated my weekends to fixing houses and planting members in poor communities in Cleveland to rejuvenate them. I hate when people say bad thing about religion in general cause I have only seen very good non corrupt behavior......I was never Catholic but I heard lots of horror stories from people I knew though. Some are good some really are messed up.
ok. i got $37ish last week and the week before. I think I will get up. Even with less cars there should be less people up. I hope. Also I need to figure out when it will post because there are 500 laps sunday. Seems like it should be more like 1:30AM monday...
You don't think that if someone like Phelps had significant political power he wouldn't be beheading people as well? He seems pretty damn crazy and convinced that certain types of people are deserving of death.
Oh, I know, and completely agree. It's amazing how people in religion only want you to see THEIR side of the story. Here is a true story. I used to work for a Catholic Television organization. I told them during the interview, "I am not Catholic, nor will I convert". They still hired me. It was decent work. Easy work. They even provided food. The organization that I worked for also held conferences where they had church officials give speeches and talks to the adults and kids separately. Fast forward six months later. I am a show editor and I am editing a speech given by a priest to the teens (10 to 18 year olds). This priest gets up, and introduces himself and states "I am a priest and I am also a homosexual". I instantly did a double take and went over and over that section. I couldn't believe what I heard. Then this priest went on to say that the Church believes that it is the sin of homosexual acts that God is against. Not the person itself. It says in the bible that God loves all Sinners. So, it is ok for him to admit that he is homosexual. God still loves him and he is not a sinner as long as he doesn't act upon it. Now, I was really impressed by this speech. It would give many kids, especially at this VERY confusing stage in life, an idea of purpose. Many teens are still trying to understand their own lives and path they should be on. I quickly edited this speech and pushed it to air. It was after it aired that I was told that the episode was pulled and that this is NOT what their organization believes and that this person will NOT be back. They also issued a formal apology to the attendants of the convention for having this person there. One of the many things that built up my desire to leave this place.
No, not at all. Religious radicalism results in results in genocides, and I don't think a country full of Christian extremists would be much better than a country full of Islamic extremists.
People are eliminated from the 'chase' meaning they won't win the championship.. but they still race. There's no less cars on the track than any other week. 43 cars. Every week.
Also, laps don't really matter. Race tracks vary in distance. a 300 lap race could be longer than a 500 lap race
Yeah, scientology is most definitely messed up. However, there isn't a part of the "evils" of scientology that can't be found in any other mainstream religion. Whether now, or some point in history. The bottom line is that humans are a gullible set. e.g I could open a thread in some obscure corner of this site, and strongly make a claim on how I have discovered the secret of the one true turk god. This happened while hamming a batch from a mysterious requester for 126 hours straight, with no breaks, sleep, food or water. At first, people would laugh at the lunacy of the claims, but the more I insist and add more juicy fabricated details to it, a few people would start asking "questions." Soon enough they'll offer the benefit of the doubt, and then they'll in fact believe it as "fact."
Me too. I just watched a documentary on netflix called How To Die In Oregon following people who use assisted suicide. Bawled through the whole thing but couldn't turn it off. edit to add: woah, I didn't refresh before replying. Looks like I'm walking into a shit storm LOL
