The Taco Bell in my town just closed down for a three month remodeling. It's not so much that I miss eating there, but now the good Mexican fast food joint is so busy you can't get near the place. Literally, the drive through backs up through the parking lot and onto the street.

I haven't been to that one but yeah it's a chain. I am not big on eating fish unless I catch it myself, and I have never caught anything out of Santa Monica (I've fished out of Marina Del ray, Oxnard, San Beunaventura, etc though) The Pier is pretty entertaining, you can basically people watch and be entertained all day
Also, you will be right by Venice/Marina Del Ray so if you wanted to venture out its right there with more to explore
I've done both, but usually I go out on a chartered boat out of Oxnard when I go. edit: Kayak fishing I have only done on local lakes, no saltwater yet
