No I never cook my ramen long, I've got the timing down to a T, I hate overcooked noodles. It's just when you crack a Top Ramen the noodles while dry seem like they have a sheen and a weird sliminess to them that never goes away.
Yea I think they have some how incorporated chicken broth into the dehydrated noodles prior to packing. Because the broth actually does look oily on the top like you said. Almost like a real broth. MAybe too oily though.
We all have our own ramen routines. I personally cook mine is a small pot with only about a half cup of water, barely enough to cook it and leave a couple spoonfuls of juice. I cook it with the packet in from the beginning, and since I use so little water the flavor is very concentrated. I can't stand watery broth. I generally eat with saltines if I can, combining a forkful of ramen with a saltine for the perfect bite.
If you ever get the chance to have real ramen from a shop take it. That stuff is the banger and is so filling.
You'll probably think this is sacrilege, but when I used to eat ramen, I just stuck it in a big bowl with hot water, microwaved it for a couple minutes, then mixed in the goods and called it a meal. To be honest, it never turned out slimy or anything, but maybe I just have the palate of a cave man.
Ive done the micro wave. Ive also done the put it in a bag and smash it with the powder dry. The struggle is apparently real among the turk community.
Have you guys ever tried that giant bowl of ramen they sell at gas stations? It comes with a flavor packet and an additional "flavor booster" packet that makes it super oily. And it's roughly the equivalent of three or four cup o'noodles. Terrible. Just terrible. But when you're really hungry, it works.
I used to do that, but I recently realized it tastes better when you cook it on the stove. At least I think so. When I get tired of the soupy version, I drain the water, add the packet, and then squirt in a couple tablespoons of Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ.
I still eat crushed up dry all the time. It's a great snack and good for turking as well. Crush it up, pour the packet in, shake and eat. Good times.
This reminds me so much of jail. Every night we would make "golash" which is ramen with other things like meat sticks, halepeno cheese, bread, pickle juice, what ever else we have lol Also you can open the ramen bag. put just enough water in to get it somewhat soft then drain it and take the 2 sides apart and put something in the middle and eat it as a ramen sandwhich
Ive never had packaged ramen. Just "real" ramen from a restaurant. ....does it taste the same? I would assume the noodles wouldn't be quite the same, but is the taste similar?
