It's not like Walmart can't afford to take this hit. This isn't even a grain of sand on their beach.

Then again, I don't think they really give a **** about their customer service either.

Yeah, I should've looked through the games more closely. I almost went through with ordering Pokemon X / Y but I still haven't decided if I want it or not. Would have to get a 3DS, and I'd want the XL.

If they're going to honor anything, it'd be the games. Like you said, those seem plausible, like if they were just doing a mega game sale promotion. The $9 monitors that are normally $200+.... yeah.

Can you imagine if the cold black heart of the Walmart empire actually honored these orders? That would be one merry Christmas for those people.

    That'd be the day.

Walmart's a big name in some recent wage disputes near me. You'd think they were on the verge of bankruptcy the way they fight those bills.

D.C.'s trying to hike their minimum wage up to $10.25, at least. I'm waiting for the Walmart execs to stomp their feet again and blubber about how they'll just take their jobs somewhere else instead.

That's fine. Huge retail space like that won't stay empty in the DC area. They can go ahead and stomp right on out, there are other retailers who will screw them to the wall on rentals for the space (Walmart won't sit there and pay taxes on empty property for long) and move right on in. I think Costco is already nearly at $10.25 for their employees anyway.

I have 2 view sonic monitors in a shopping cart and it hasn't let me check out over the last 10 minutes, but I'm going to keep trying until the shopping cart either lets me buy or pukes on me over it. I actually need on monitor and I'll put the other on craigslist for $100 (this is the one I have in my cart: http://www.viewsonic.com/us/vx2703mh-led.html )

    The funny thing is...

THEY WILL. It's so much more easier to just leave than keep paying. *nods* Sorry I am just a miser like them too.

I used to work for them. They used to fight to raise the min wage. They do so with the strategy that their rivals would take a bigger hit. They might have changed their stance in the last few years though.

it's like how our county wants to raise the min wage to 15 an hour.. That just screams bad news to me.

Really? Maybe they only do that when it suits them, then. They seem to have a history of doing whatever it takes to avoid paying more than they want to, like Chicago in 2006.

I'd love to have more Costco stores in the area, honestly.

I think its safe to say the majority of walmart employees supplement their income with social services anyways... so what exactly will raising the minimum wage do?

I stopped shopping at Walmart. Not that I think my purchases here and there make a difference, but I can't justify giving money to such a monster of a company. Plus going in there was always like a dreary look into a sci-fi thriller. Everyone just walks around unhappy, the shelves are all destroyed like the apocalypse is coming, and there is a constant smell of BO and fear.
