Sam was a decent man, HIS stores were the "old" Walmarts that made them popular. If he could see what those disgusting brats of his and their corporate pigs have done to his name and his stores, he'd likely come back and nuke them all.

Why is that bad? It's almost a living wage for this country. People who work at wallyworld wouldn't need to be on food stamps.

Aye. I too would like the elusive Masters. Together, you and I will shake the very foundations of this online marketplace for work... or something.

    More like or something.

Because artificially raising the minimum wage doesn't change the economics of the market. All it does is eliminate some of the jobs that previously available in the <current minimum wage> to <proposed future minimum wage> range. So some people will get raises and some people will be laid off, which is maybe neutral but probably bad. What it then does is eliminate the possibility of new jobs being created in that range, which is definitely bad.

From an even more theoretical standpoint, you can choose where you want to work so it's up to you to not work for a place that pays less, to drive up wages. Same thing on mTurk that people talk about on here ALL the time (don't do penny hits that aren't worth it, etc etc). Conversely, it's not up to anyone else to tell employers what they're allowed to pay, just let the market pressures drive wages to their natural point (no one will work for 5 cents an hour at Walmart, but almost everyone will work there for $300 an hour, so the right price is somewhere in there).

Haven't you heard, Bear? The new thing is no tats - do bears have tats? Respectable jobs, full dark motorcycle gear, not a gang like leather jacket, and main respectable business is real estate. Yes, the modern drug dealers, biker gangs are flippers for cover. They live in the suburbs, have normal families and their kids got to school with your kids and they look and behave in decent manners. Don't get caught in an empty property with them. You might not get out.

It's not a bad thing for that one area where people are working for the money, but it is a very bad thing in the larger picture. This is just one area. If the minimum wage in that area rises, you can bet prices will increase.

Not to mention that people will have lesser hours because employers will cut hours to compensate for the increase.

I posted it a few pages back. walmart is having a super sale, or bug, no one knows. a lot of stuff is super cheap, while other things became super expensive.

I just bought a GTX 680 video card for 45 bucks.

Some lucky people bought a 46 inch tv for 9 bucks.

is one instance where the prices are skewed the other way.

will all of these orders go through? We will see. if yes, then awesome. If no, then no harm done (to the customers anyways)

That is a 6 grand item, for 30 bucks. o.o

I'd imagine they will cancel those orders. I tried something similar with office depot once when they had an obvious bug and they canceled my orders.

They're doing that already. And why should the taxpayer be picking up the tab for Walmart's (and others) payroll in the form of food stamps, medicaid, child care subsidies, LIHEAP assistance, and all the rest that poverty workers are eligible for? I don't begrudge the aid to the people stuck working for subpoverty wages, but when those profit statements come out and you know darn well they could afford to pick up their own tab it grinds my gears a little to know that in the end those tax dollars are actually going to benefit the company, not the workers. If they can afford to pay their workers enough to survive they shouldn't be relying on the taxpayer to do it for them. They won't do it voluntarily.
