how come someone doesn't just make the thread every morning, why does it have to be at midnight if no one's going to be up, it can surely wait for whoever wakes up first...

Sorry that you don't like it. I changed it this morning to give it variety. Sometimes I'll edit it if I feel like it. We used to do that in the early years of the forum. Anyone would make it at anytime. I don't know, someone, probably Nanaki, decided it should be at midnight daily. Then he left the forum so we had a bot make it because lots of times no one wants to make the thread. EDIT: The main reason why we have it start at midnight is because that's when Mturk starts the new day. We're following Mturk. Not sure what you're clicking at. It works fine for me. It should take you to another thread explaining how to make threads in detail.

Can you ban the bot? I think you should and just let whoever posts the first hit make the thread, but if they don't want to create a new thread and end up posting in the previous thread, a real live non-bot modreator should separate it from that thread if it's that important that the thread be renamed to the new day
Like I made a bot that greets people in this discord server but I hide the fact that it's a bot by removing it's user roles and using an anime icon to make it seem more human, if new members knew they were being greeted by a bot they'd probably react less often and think the server was soulless too
This OP is like the greetbot in my example, but i discord it's more vital to greet new members at time of entry, whereas this is just a hit thread so there's less urgency
What I mean is there's no added upside to it being posted at midnight, no one posted between it and your first post, so you could have very well just created the thread yourself and the downside of appearing soulless is eliminated

I'll start with 2. Nanaki used to make the thread daily with anime pictures and he had certain rules if someone else tried to make the thread. Few people had issues with that. It caused problems in the forum so he left. Which brings me to 1. It doesn't matter who starts the thread, just as long as it's started for us. It has bot in the name because it IS a bot run by a script. It automatically makes the thread at 12:10 AM (3:10 Eastern) daily if no one makes it beforehand. I see no reason to remove the author of the thread. Once we get past to the 2nd page, it's forgotten. I see what you mean by the link. I'll have to look into that.

Yes that makes sense. In the past, the forum was really active and busy with posts all through the hours. People left elsewhere so now it's dead and makes less sense. But like I said, it's set at midnight mainly to follow when Mturk switches over to the new day. HITs posted are separated by the new days.

" no you are absolutely wrong, the first post of a vBulletin thread is the most viewed post because it's what people see first when clicking the name and not using the latest post link I feel like you are unconvinced on how soulless the bot is so I'm going to find posts by this nanaki and show you via thank counters that my hypothesis is true
