Btw Flora answered why the forums dead. So unless one of the other 2 current major forums breaks for a week or just gets shut down there is very little chance of this one getting back to its old days. I like this forum either way and i stay for that reason though. The big ones like crowd and turkerhub feel wayyyy to crowded. As for a community you speak of though... Mturkers are here to work really. We talk to each other and become friendly sure but i dont think its the level of community that normal more social type of sites have but thats me. And for your stuff besides what flora answered the wrong part is that they left and wont come back of their own volition. It was not because of the bot or anything on the forums. They simply left because their site did not work and they wanted to earn money. Thats how life works.
It's a matter of preference really. I'm not bothered by the bot making the thread, but I enjoy seeing the ideas people come up with. New members are welcome to make the thread too. But the biggest issues were the forum being down for so long, and the pop ups/redirects. The response was slow, and people simply stopped coming.
Flora told me why it died, I'm saying it doesn't have to look dead unless you guys want to keep membership small that's a different story
Guys I don't care why the forum died that's the past but I've learned in life to always learn from the past, look forward, and move forward
I understand what you're saying but I disagree with you. We had someone make the thread for 2 or 3 weeks in a row - sks - and that didn't bring any more action any more than the bot did. Removing the bot and making a human start the thread isn't the answer. It's dead because there are other forums out there that have more traffic. It's hard to build up again after it's been dead when people look elsewhere and see there's more action elsewhere, they'll go there instead.

" I'm not saying get rid of 'bot' from name to increase traffic I'm saying it deters what little traffic ends up here like me. The bot can continue making the threads just give it a human name. This site ia ranked 320K on Alexa and dropped 50k in 3 months there's not going to be much organic traffic to begin with so you have to nurture what little you get from guys like me who randomly stumbled upon it from google "Removing the bot and making a human start the thread isn't the answer." As a 2017 I can say that I really don't care that a bot is making the thread. I came for the HIT postings, and stayed because of the people. I think the only way that forum would really bounce back is if someone figured out a way to HIT postings easier to see/find.
like I didn't even no there was more action elsewhere until Shadow Rose mentioned the turkerhub. That is definitely not supposed to be a reason this forum is dead...
Proposed changes to improve growth: censor turkerhub, remove 'bot' from thread creator name, be more open to ideas from new members who aren't as jaded over past events and clearly have a fresher perspective on things
Turkerhub isn't the only turking forum out there. There's MTC and TN as well as Facebook has a couple of turking groups and chatrooms. People really are spread out everywhere.
And mturkcrowd are the 2 massive ones now at least that i know of. The mturk community as a whole is a community not by forum site but by the fact that we all work on mturk and when their main way to find tasks on mturk is gone on their site they will move to another and so on. I'm not new to MTurk i'm in a chat and fb group i'm new to forums and I'm not sure how you're fostering growth in a forum you moderate by namedropping competing forums...
Read my thingy lol. We help each other as turkers not as part of a forum. At least most turkers don't limit others like that but whatever.
Normally I don't namedrop other forums but it's been mentioned many times by others and it's no secret that there's other forums out there. They'll find out eventually even if I don't say anything.
